Shadowlands

'Shadowlands' considers the historical and material elements that mesh into an invisible latticwork of signifers of concepts such as boundaries and proprietarty rights. Here clay and wool function as representations of a whiteness that spreads and clings, as well as referencing a 19th century view of landscape as a site for extraction. Knitted wire and stitched mesh speaks to the specifics of knitting; the act of forming a fabric by looping of a continous yarn, as a metaphor for the long shadows cast by the ideologies of the past.
